Buck progress report Day 54

Here I am again! I didn’t realize it had been so long since I posted about our Fab Yeller Feller. LOL He’s actually doing great. The amount of hair coming off that horse is amazing. My friend Kathy Jones gave me a power shedder thingy and I used it on him tonight. He wasn’t fond …

First ride on Buck last night

Came in from work and spent a good 15 minutes just brushing loose hair off of him. There is an incredible amount of hair coming off that horse! Decided it was time to fit the saddle to him. The black Big Horn flex tree that I use on John fit him pretty well. May need …

The latest update on Buck

Today was 38 days that he has been with us. I am starting to see significant changes in not only his physical condition, but also his mental state as well. He no longer has that depressed “I just give up” attitude. He is actually getting quite sassy! He still prefers his own company to spending …

Today was Vet day

Took Starbucks in to see Dr. Adams. Got his teeth floated. Doc said his back teeth aren’t so good and he’s struggling to chew up his roughage. The teeth on the bottom are almost gone flat with his gums. He recommended adding beet pulp to his feed and senior feed. Buck was a good boy …

Days you wish would never end…

I haven’t been riding much lately – which is really strange considering that I no longer work outside the farm.  But it seems these days that I have SO much to do that I never get caught up anymore.   Or maybe it’s that I’m keeping myself more busy with all these little canning and happy …

John the Mule

I suppose he was offended that I told Dusty and Sonny’s story first – seeing as he is the reason that I still have equines on my property.   John came to live with me shortly after Dusty and I had our wreck.  He was on loan to me from my farrier as our entire …

Sonny’s Story….

Sonny is a bay gelding of questionable parentage.  From his color/build – it appears that he is a cross between an Appaloosa and some sort of gaited horse – probably a Standardbred.  Sonny belonged to a neighbor at the end of my road.  He ‘rescued’ Sonny from what he called a bad situation.  The horse …

All about Dusty

Dusty is my big paint horse who has owned me for the last 4 years.  He came to live with me in the summer of 2005 after I learned that my riding mare had left laryngeal hemiplegia (spelling?).   We bonded fairly quickly and have a wonderful partnership.   I love him more than I ever thought …
